In business we have both internal and external customers. In my line of work I get the pleasure of dealing with both and I believe it is important to under promise and over deliver. We need customers leaving us feeling like they are valued and important. They need to know that we will do our very best for them, leaving them feeling good.

What’s something that most people wouldn’t know about you?
All through high school and most of my married life pre-New Zealand, I had the pleasure of singing in both a school and church choir and earned many awards. Once I left school I got recruited into two church choirs – singing with my local church and alongside my future hubby at my future in-laws church. Once we moved over to New Zealand, we lost the contacts however I still like to sing along to pieces of music in the car and at home!

What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
Our mum is awesome. She looks after us three cats (aged 14, 4 and 2) and makes sure we have lots of good food in our tummies. She loves to pick us up and carry us into the house with her – so we make sure we are sitting on the wall when she gets home from work.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a dolphin swimming in the wonderful blue waters all day. Why a dolphin you may ask – I see dolphins as majestic mammals. They always look to be having fun jumping out of the water, splashing around, trying to outrun the big cruise liners, container ships etc. I, unfortunately, suffer from sea-sickness in any form of sea travel – so if I can’t be on the water, being below it would be the next best thing.

Identifying the type of interaction a customer is looking for is extremely important as a first step; not everyone responds to the same style or approach and we need to respect that and adapt.

I’m not sure whether it’s a talent as such, but I can pull together a pretty amazing grazing platter. Too pretty to eat… almost!

Lollies; they’re my kryptonite. Don’t leave an open packet near me, I can’t be trusted!
